What do you fear?

For me I am afraid of height especially when I’m all alone in a high-level place. Once I’m all alone in a high-place or building suicidal thoughts start to run through my mind.

Recently a high-level bridge was construct on one of the N1 leading to my office and I made it mandatory morning and night to use the footbridge regardless of what thought runs through my mind.

I try to understand why I am so much fearfully of height but I couldn’t come up with any reasonable explanation. However, I realized that the fear factor has been a form of limitation to my life and decision making.

Fear of the unknown can make fail

Fear of failure or sickness can made suicidal

Fear of what people will say or do can also make you self-sabotage yourself

Fear weakens our immune system and can cause cardiovascular damage

Fear can cause gastrointestinal problems such as ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, and decreased fertility.

Fear can lead to accelerated ageing and even premature death.

But do you know that if you spend some time trying to understand what you fear, most times the fear will go away?

We fear what we don’t understand. We are ignorant to a solution; it is unknown to us. When you make it your mission to understand and learn, you’ll see the fear fade away.

  1. You need to sit with your thoughts and emotions
  2. Befriend your negative voice
  3. Challenge and ask what if
  4. Use self-affirmations in the right way
